18 June - Happy Father's Day

18 June
Hot, hot, hot!  107 degrees projected this afternoon.  Our thermometer said 104 in the shade just a few hours ago.  Both RV A/C units working hard, but they will only produce a difference, so the warmer outside, the warmer inside.

This morning we headed back to the BX/Commissary area as Doreen wanted to do a couple more loads of laundry and pick up a few things at the huge commissary before we head to Petaluma CA tomorrow.

Back to the RV and put a roast & onions in the crock pot (outside of course) to cook all afternoon. Cubs at the Pirates today so watched the game and then had a nice Father's Day meal as we hibernated inside.

Tomorrow we will pack up, fuel up, hook up, take the RV over to the base car wash for a bath and then about 1100 hrs head to our next destination:  Petaluma Coast Guard Station near Petaluma CA north of San Franciscoo.
Check-in time is 1300 hrs and it is only about 1-1/2 hrs over there from here, so no reason to bug out early tomorrow.  Petaluma only has six RV spots and I am still amazed we scored one of them for nine nights.
Petaluma is the Coast Guard's culinary school!  The best part is that the dining hall is open to retirees.  May have to check that out.  We will be much closer to the coast, so we are hoping for reduced temperatures there too.  We have plans to visit San Francisco three times from there, all via the Vallejo Ferry.  One day we will see Alcatraz.  One day we will do Lombard Street, Chinatown, fisherman's wharf, etc and next Sunday we will see the Giants baseball game and they host the New York Mets.  Other days will be spent going to the coast, checking out the lighthouses and relaxing.

Next report from Petaluma!
