12 June
When we departed Fallon Naval Air Station this morning about 0748 hours it was pouring rain with lower 40 degree temps and wind. Yuk! So we got the RV all secured and hooked up to the truck, and were soaked as depart. We drove in rain until we got to just west of Reno and then as we crossed over into California.

Low ceilings as we headed west |

Snow in the background as we hit California. |

Agriculture Inspection Station. Checking for fruits, vegetables and plants. |
|
Severe grooves in Interstate 80 from the mandatory tire chains. |

And it's snowing!! |
The higher we climbed the temperature continued to drop and the visibility was lousy. As we drove through Donner Pass the temp dropped to 30 degrees and we hit snow.
Roads were wet but we never noticed any ice. The rest areas were closed and snow was accumulating on the sides of the roads.
Visibility was not too great and driving was intense with our condo-on-wheels in tow. As we descended the temperature continued to increase, the precipitation subsided and visibility improved.
After 247 miles today, about 1245 hours we arrived at Travis Air Force base, our 10th stop on this trip. We will be here 12-19 June and then move on to Petaluma CA
Liberty is in heaven here!! There is green grass! The Famcamp really is very nice and we actually sat outside this afternoon and unwound a bit after the stressful drive today. The sites are back-in and the first one they gave us we could not make the turn. The site we have now is fine.

Tomorrow we will stop in at the base Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) office for discounted tickets for various attractions and then head to the Napa Valley area to do some wine tasting.
Coast to coast! What a beautiful site!!
