11 June - Preparing to Leave Fallon NAS

11 June
Short and sweet today.  After our long day yesterday we hung close today and got a few things done around here.  Doreen did a load of laundry since the facility is very close to our RV and was available and cheap!  $1 to wash and $1 to dry.  She had not seen the Naval Exchange (NEX) yet so we went there and I ended up buying my Father's Day present - a new pair of Asics shoes.  We then cruised around Fallon a bit and stopped by Walmart to get a replacement fan since our other one died.  Then back to the campground for the rest of the day.

I took care of a few chores in preparation for departure tomorrow.  The power dropped for about an hour and the RV was starting to get a bit chilly before it came back on.  It only got up to about 54F today and the lows tonight are supposed to be in the low 40's.  We've had rain off and on all day and it had been very windy.  Just an hour or so ago we got some small hail which accumulated on our step.
So we have enjoyed our stay here but are looking forward to Travis Air Force base near Sacramento CA and the areas we will see from there, such as Napa and San Francisco.  We will drive about 244 miles tomorrow and we only travel about 60 mph, so we will get there early afternoon and get set up.

From Travis we will also see Doreen's cousin Jim Schwandt who lives in San Mateo CA, Saturday we have tickets for the Yankees vs the A's at Oakland Coliseum.  Later we will move north of San Francisco to Petaluma CA and we will see San Francisco from there also.  Next report from Travis Air Force base FamCamp!

  1. Oh, that hail! We ran into it 4 times on our last trip. Drive safely and stay warm!
