4 July - Happy Birthday USA, Goodbye Gold Beach, Hello Silver Spur RV Park in Silverton!

4 July
We pulled chocks about 0800 hrs at Gold Beach Oregon and headed north on highway 101 along the beautiful Oregon coast.  We had driven part of this route a couple days ago when we went lighthouse hunting.  The drive is awesome.  Since it is the Fourth of July, there was hardly a sole on the road, so we basically owned it!

North of Coos Bay we diverted on highway 38 and headed eastbound to catch Interstate 5.  Chicago Cubs tuned into the XM radio helps pass the time.  Heading north on I-5 traffic picked up a bit, but before we knew it we had turned off at Salem OR and drove a few miles on highway 213.  About 1400 hrs and 272 miles later, the Silver Spur RV Park appeared on the right.  Yeah!

The office was closed due to the holiday, but an envelope was taped to the office door with our name on it and a map to site 43.

This is stop #14 on this trip so we are getting this set-up and tear-down, down to a science!  Before long we were set up and having a cold frosty.
Rear view.

Beautiful day with little wind, so able to use the awning.  Our Nation's Colors flying high on Independence Day!

Blogs updated, we are headed out on a walk with Liberty and then will likely hang here and listen for the celebratory fireworks in the distance.

While we are here we will be visiting an area east of Portland with waterfalls, and will be heading over to Madras where my cousin Nancy Linch lives.  I have not seen Nancy since probably 1969?  We also plan to seek out the Spruce Goose which is up here nearby.
