19 July (no pictures today)
Today we took it easy in the morning then headed through a town called Medical Lake and visited Fairchild Air Force Base. It was founded in 1942 and today hosts a refueling wing, a list of support units and the training group responsible for training Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE). Our daughter Jennifer had to endure this training as part of her duties in Aircrew Flight Equipment. Pilots also have to be trained in SERE. In addition to this training they also have to complete water survival in Florida and arctic survival in Alaska.
We visited the BX and picked up a few items and then the commissary as well and refilled the fridge. Both facilities are smaller, based on the population here. Nice facilities though. We were not on Fairchild all that long and then grabbed a later lunch on the way back to the RV. Tonight we relaxed a bit more and I met our neighbor to the east who came back to the campground today with a beautiful, new (2017) RAM 3500 single rear wheel pickup to pull their trailer. Dan is a retired Air Force Colonel from Vancouver OR and he and his wife travel with their trailer around the country like Doreen and I are doing.
Tomorrow is half price day at the Marina here at the campground, so we are going to rent a pontoon boat for the day and head out on Clear Lake to do some fishing, floating, swimming and relaxing on the water. Friday we plan to visit Bob and Phyllis again and the puppy gets a hair cut.
