21 July - Lunch with Uncle Bob and Aunt Phyllis, Liberty Hair Cut, Shopping and Laundry

21 July
This morning we headed to Spokane Valley WA and dropped Liberty off at Petsmart for a haircut.  We favor Petsmart's as they are nation-wide and they have her records to include immunizations and haircut preferences.  Some Petsmarts also have the "pet hotel" and board dogs overnight.  We have had very good luck with Petsmarts, both boarding and grooming.

Then we headed to Coeur d'Alene to visit with and have lunch with Doreen's aunt and uncle Bob and Phyllis Schwandt.  They live in a beautiful assisted living facility called The Renaissance at Coeur d'Alene.
These two have a very special place in our hearts as they have been very, very good to our family for as long as I have known Doreen.  I am so glad we were able to put Spokane and Coeur d'Alene on our travel plans this summer.  We talked about a lot of things with them and they both are very sharp for 94 and 95 years old respectively.  We attended their 70th wedding anniversary celebration here three years ago.  They have their own adjoining rooms here with a connecting doorway, so that if something happens with one of them the other can stay in their own room.

We had lunch with them at the Renaisance and then before we left Bob wanted to see my truck, so we headed out to the parking lot with his wheel chair (Phyllis is ambulatory with the aid of a walker).  He was amazed at how big it is but thought it looked really nice.  He asked a lot of great questions about it!

After leaving The Renaissance  we did some grocery shopping at Walmart next to Petsmart and while we were there we got our call that Liberty would be done in 15 minutes, which worked out great.  We picked up Liberty and then headed back to the RV to stow the groceries.  We hung around here for a short bit and then headed into Cheney WA, a small town about 6 miles from here, which is the closest laundromat to our campground.  Most campgrounds have washers and dryers for a nominal fee, but Clear Lake does not.  Doreen did a few loads of laundry and we walked around the downtown area in between cycles.

Cheney hosts Eastern Washington University who played UNI in football last fall.

After the laundry was done we walked a couple blocks down to a pizza place and had dinner.  Then back to the RV to watch the recorded Cubs vs Cardinals baseball game - we already know the outcome :-(

Tomorrow we will likely venture downtown Spokane and have a look at the falls.
