This morning at about 0900 hrs we departed Fort Harrison in Helena MT and drove to Yellowstone's Edge RV park located about 18 miles south of Livingstone MT. This is our 19th campground and we will be here until 14 Aug when we will drive to Sheridan WY.
Along the drive the scenery remains sparse out here, except it seemed to get a big greener the further east we traveled.
We continued to see a smoke haze in the sky's and obscuring the mountains. We can only imagine how beautiful the scenery must be here if it were not for the smoke.

We arrived Yellowstone's Edge RV Park just after noon after a 148 mile drive. We are located about 30 minutes north of the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park. This is a nice commercial campground located right on the Yellowstone River.
Our site is full hookup and we have some nice green grass (irrigated) on each side of our RV and we have a nice shade tree. Needless to say, Liberty is loving life here!

Not the best quality picture, but you can see our grass here. Plenty of room between RV's too. |

Liberty enjoying the grass and shade. |
Once settled and after a late lunch, we went out for a walk to scope out the park and the river.

This evening they had an ice cream social and campfire at the lodge. This is the first camp fire we have seen in a long time. Fires are not allowed anywhere out here because it is so dry and the danger of forest fires. The camp sites do not have fire rings, so they do a group thing here every night. Sunday nights is the ice cream gathering.

Eight flavors available and you can sample as many as you want for $4.50 per person. I am having huckleberry here and Doreen is having Moose Tracks. |

Hopefully not the only bear we will see here LOL! |
We plan to do several day trips to Yellowstone, packing a lunch and waters in the cooler and taking Liberty with us. There are three basic loops in Yellowstone and we will break them up into different days. We also plan to do a white water rafting trip and other things in the area. The Grand Tetons are south of Yellowstone, but it would be about four hours one way, so we will see how that goes.
They are talking about the poor air quality on tv regarding all those fires! Sites look nice. We want to do Yellowstone...more bucket list locations!!
ReplyDeleteWere you able to meet some new friends at the ice cream social? Awesome view of mountains from the campground.
