5 Aug - Farmer's Market and Preparing to Depart Helena

5 Aug
Doreen found out about a farmer's market in downtown Helena so we drove down there this morning. to check it out.  It is held on Saturday mornings in the midst of a park area on two blocks of Fuller Avenue.

Looking down Fuller Avenue, vendors on both sides of the street.
We walked the length of the Farmer's Market so as to see both sides.  There was a little of everything, from wood carvings to hand-made soaps;  candles and vegetables;  Elk brats to Indian jewelry; fresh flowers and bakery goods;  doggie bones and purses;  baby clothes and leather work.  Doreen bought some vegetables and a loaf of cinnamon bread, and I picked up some tortillas:

Like most Farmer's Markets, dogs brought their masters there and were having a great time.  Liberty did not attend!  We finished up our shopping, stopped by the post office to drop off a couple post cards for our deployed daughter Jennifer, and then headed to the grocery store to pick up a few things before we depart tomorrow.

Truck fueled up, we drove back to Fort Harrison and started making preparations to leave tomorrow.  As we drove in the main gate, a couple of Doreem's friends waved at us.  We could not stop for pictures, but here is a picture of a pair of them from last night as we walked the dog just a block away from our RV.
Tomorrow morning we will leave Fort Harrison and the Helena MT area and head southeast to Livingston MT and about 18 miles south of there to the Yellowstone's Edge RV Park.  We will be there 6-14 Aug and will spend much of that time doing day trips down to Yellowstone National Park and further to the Grand Teton's National Park.  Our stay at Helena has been great but we are both ready to move on.

  1. I love a good farmers market. I bet those tortillas are amazing. We like to show the boys the ingredient labels as all natural! Can't pronounce the store bought stuff!
